The biggest practical question for US clients is simple: what time will a session be where I live? India sits well ahead of the US, so it helps to see the conversions side by side.
India Time Against US Time
India Standard Time (IST) is UTC+5:30 and doesn't change with the seasons. The US shifts clocks in March and November, so the gap changes during the year.
| US zone | Gap from IST in winter | Gap from IST in summer (daylight time) |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern | IST is 10 h 30 min ahead | IST is 9 h 30 min ahead |
| Central | IST is 11 h 30 min ahead | IST is 10 h 30 min ahead |
| Mountain | IST is 12 h 30 min ahead | IST is 11 h 30 min ahead |
| Pacific | IST is 13 h 30 min ahead | IST is 12 h 30 min ahead |
A Few Worked Examples
- 8:00 pm Eastern in winter is 6:30 am the next morning in India.
- 7:00 pm Pacific in winter is 8:30 am the next morning in India.
- 9:00 am Central on a weekend in winter is 8:30 pm the same day in India.
Early-morning India slots are what make weekday evenings workable for US clients. Weekends open up daytime options too.
Choosing a Good Slot
Pick a time when you can be relaxed and uninterrupted. For a remote session you don't need to be on a call the whole time, so many people book an evening slot and simply unwind afterwards. Check the date when clocks change, since the gap shifts by an hour.
